Delhi… unsafe for women

Woman gangraped… Woman killed…’ This is what we all keep reading about in the newspapers. We all just flip through the pages and then forget about it, until we ourselves are hit with a situation, which makes you think about all those case

Me, being a part of those, who use to read these issues, sympathise with the girls and think ‘why did they take the risk of venturing out that late in the night?’ Until I was hit with a situation recently! Before you all start thinking, why would I take the risk of moving out in the might, let me tell you, it wasn’t late

Thursday, 8th May 2008, 9:45 p.m.: After a vigorous workout session at the gym, I was on my way back home. Reaching my premises, i was climbing the stairs is when I hear some one say ‘Girl, want to have a nice time’ (yes, in English). On looking up, I was shocked to see a naked man in the opposite building, coming down the stairs. Freaking out, on the sight of the man, I started running up to my house, is when, I hear him say ‘don’t run, I am coming to you’

He was no where to be found, by the guards… That is when, we were told, that this has been happening for the past 5 months. This man has the audacity to ring the bell of houses and scare them. And the point to be noted was, he usually goes to those house, which has girls staying in them

This is when, I thought, just at the sight of that demented man, I was so shaken, wonder, what other girls, who have been is a worse situation, would have gone through

The reason, I am writing this on my blog, is to awaken those, who think, Delhi is getting better. Pardon my expression, its just getting worse…

To all those, who are reading my blog, lets just get together and make Delhi a better and a safe place to live. Request you all, to please pass the word around and help others, in order to save them from facing such a situation.

Oh my god! This really took me by shock and surprise! Well, good thing is pepper spray's are now widely avaiable in the market... I have one and I think all girls should carry one at all time in their handbags... or if you drive have a baseball bat handy in your car! Really, it's time to take things in your own hands!
